Group “Ghent” was founded in October, 2008 by several enthusiasts in Rivne (Ukraine).

            During the first year of our club’s existence we tended to reenact Ghent’s ordinance company of 1471-1477, in particular during the time of Flanders being part of Burgundian duchy.

            As of today we aim at integrated reenactment of costume, mode of life of broad-cloth guild and armaments of Ghent city company at the time of battle at Ginegat in 1479 (beginning with autumn 2009). 

            We are officially registered public youth organisation.

Our purpose is to take part in «living history» events and various kinds of festivals of historical reenactment. We also plan to realize our own projects and experiments in course of time.

At the moment, we have some experience in costume, domestic and armor elements producing (by hand), based on reliable sources. We strive for perfection, so that techniques and process of production would be close to the way it was made in 15th century to the extent possible.

           We took part in festivals in Ukraine, Russia and Poland (for several times). In future we plan to visit festivals, which are interesting for us in other countries of the CIS and Europe.

           Starting from summer of 2009, people from different parts of Ukraine join group "Ghent". Interested in studying, reenacting of costume and mode of life of townspeople of Ghent city (Flanders county) related to broad-cloth guild of the late 15th century and also studying of military science and armament of Western Europe of the abovementioned period we are on our way of historical reenactment.

           We will gladly receive invitation to festivals and other activities, your comments, wishes and advices and also we can give advice and help you to the best of our abilities :-)
